Moscow Police Search Apartment Of Navalny Associate's Parents

Investigators in Moscow have searched the apartment belonging to the parents of an associate of outspoken Kremlin critic Aleksei Navalny.

Lawyer Vasily Kushnir wrote on Twitter on February 12 that police were searching the apartment of Nikita Kulachenkov's parents.

Kulachenkov, a member of Navalny's Anticorruption Foundation, is wanted by investigators in connection with a picture found last year in Navalny's apartment, which investigators claim had been stolen in the city of Vladimir, some 170 kilometers northeast of Moscow.

Kulachenkov's current whereabouts are unknown.

Last week, law enforcement officers searched the Moscow apartment of Roman Rubanov, the director of Navalny's Anticorruption Foundation, and the homes of Rubanov's parents and sister outside the city.

Navalny is under house arrest and has been convicted of large-scale theft in two trials he says were politically motivated.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
