Pakistan Air Strikes Kill 17 Militants

Pakistani air strikes have killed 17 suspected militants in the country's lawless tribal areas, near the Afghan border.

In a statement on November 27, the Pakistani Army said the strikes targeted the Rajgal area of the Khyber tribal agency.

The army said foreign militants were among those killed.

The strikes are part of an offensive against militants that began last year in North Waziristan, one of seven Pakistani tribal agencies bordering Afghanistan.

The conflict zone is inaccessible to journalists, making it difficult to verify the army's claims, including the number and identity of those killed.

The army intensified its offensive against militants after the Pakistani Taliban massacred more than 150 people, the majority of them children, at a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar last December.
