PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- A large explosion at an Islamic center in the northern Pakistani town of Peshawar has killed at least five people and wounded more than 50 others.
Worshippers had gathered at the Tablighi Markaz center for evening prayers when the bomb went off on Thursday, January 16.
The crowd at the center is especially large on Thursday evenings, ahead of Friday prayers.
Police said it appears a time bomb with the equivalent of five kilograms of TNT packed in it was hidden in an oil barrel at the center.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
