Pakistani Military Says 32 Militants Killed In Ambush

The Pakistani military says it has killed 32 militants in an ambush in the country's rugged northwest.

In a statement on December 19, the military said its forces targeted the militants while they were moving through the Tirah Valley of the Khyber region to the border with Afghanistan.

The military said three of its forces were wounded in the incident.

This comes on top of an earlier announcement by the military that it killed 27 militants in air strikes and ground operations in the Khyber area.

The operations come days after the massacre by the Taliban on December 16 of 148 people -- most of them children -- in a military-run school.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on December 17 announced that he would lift a moratorium on executions in terrorism-related cases.
