Russia and the European Union officials are meeting in Brussels on January 23 to discuss the European Commission's antimonopoly probe into Gazprom's contracts with Eastern European countries.
The Commission is investigating Gazprom on suspicion that it has hindered the free flow of natural gas across Europe and imposed excessive prices by linking the price of its gas to oil.
The Russian delegation in Brussels is led by Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky.
The EU delegation is led by Dominique Ristori, head of the European Commission’s General Directorate for Energy.
Vladimir Chizhov, Russia’s ambassador to the EU, says the delegations also will discuss differences over Russia's plans for the South Stream natural gas pipeline.
A European Commission spokesman declined to comment on the talks.
