A suspect allegedly involved in the 2006 killing of Russian investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya has been shot by an unknown attacker in Moscow.
Murad Musayev, a lawyer for Dzhabrail Makhmudov, said on August 15 that his client underwent surgery on his leg after he was shot overnight and his current condition is satisfactory.
No further details were immediately available.
Moscow police confirmed Musayev's statement, saying the incident took place at a subway station in downtown Moscow.
The trial of Makhmudov and four other men charged with killing Politkovskaya is expected to resume on August 15.
The five suspects, four men from Russia's North Caucasus region of Chechnya and a former police officer, pleaded not guilty last month.
