The chairman of the St. Andrew Foundation, Vladimir Yakunin, led a delegation to Greece on July 10 to travel with the cross on its flight to St. Petersburg on July 11.
The cross will be on display at the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, then move to Moscow.
It will also be taken to Kyiv as part of Ukraine's celebration of 1,025 years of Christianity, and to Minsk before returning to Greece on August 2.
The cross is being insured for 10 million euros ($13 million), although the CEO of the St. Andrew Foundation's branch in Greece, Segeri Golovin, described the relic as "priceless."
