Russia's soccer authorities have told its fans to be on their best behavior at Euro 2012 matches after it was fined and threatened with a six-point penalty in the next Euro qualifying campaign.

European soccer's governing body, UEFA, fined Russia $150,000 on June 13 after Russian fans beat stadium stewards, threw fireworks, and shouted racist abuse at a black Czech player at their Group A opener against the Czech Republic last week.

On June 12, the Russian-Poland match in Warsaw was marred by bloody street clashes between Russians and Poles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin telephoned Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on June 12 to say Warsaw bore "full responsibility" for the safety of fans.

Some 20,000 Russian fans are expected in Warsaw for Russia's final Group A match against Greece on June 16.
