U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has said the United States will continue to work with Pakistan on a broad range of issues, including the fight against terrorism.

Kerry made the remarks during a meeting on March 24 with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of a nuclear summit in The Hague.

Kerry told reporters that the two sides were going to discuss "important issues of cooperation with respect to extremism, terror, counter-terrorism, and Afghanistan."

He also said Washington has "great confidence" in Pakistan's nuclear security.

Pakistan is one of a small number of states that are known to possess nuclear weapons.

Sharif said there have been "a lot of challenges" in Pakistan since he came to office last June.

He also hailed his "very constructive discussions" with U.S. leaders.
