Trump Picks 'Mad Dog' Mattis As Defense Secretary
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said he has chosen retired U.S. Marine Corps General James Mattis as his defense secretary. Trump made the announcement at a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 1. Nicknamed "Mad Dog" for his blunt manner, Mattis led Marine divisions in the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. About two weeks before announcing his pick, Trump met with Mattis in Bedminster, New Jersey. (AP)
