Voting Ends In Turkish Referendum On Expanding Presidential Powers
Polls have closed for an April 16 referendum in Turkey that will decide whether the country changes its constitution to create a presidential system of government. The move would give President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sweeping new powers and allow him to stay in office until 2029. After casting his ballot in Istanbul, Erdogan said the proposed changes would open a "path to a much more rapid development" for Turkey. (Reuters, AP)
