Officials in Kazakhstan's western region of Manghystau say that seven Kazakh citizens, including four immigration police officers, have been arrested by Turkmen border guards.
According to the officials, the four police officers and three forest rangers were on a business trip last week along the border with Turkmenistan and lost their way.
They were reportedly carrying firearms with them.
The officials say that after the seven Kazakh nationals unintentionally crossed the Kazakh-Turkmen border, Turkmen border guards arrested the group and charged them with illegal border crossing and arms smuggling.
No official information regarding the incident has been provided yet by Turkmen officials.
