Thousands of Hasidic pilgrims from around the world arrive in the Ukrainian city of Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Followers of the Breslov Hasidic movement come to Uman every year to pray at the grave of the movement's founder, Reb Nachman, who died there in 1810.
This year, the Jewish New Year according to the Gregorian calendar will come on October 3 and last for two days. However, Jews celebrate all holidays with sunset on the eve of the celebration, so Rosh Hashanah 2024 is celebrated from the evening of October 2 to the evening of October 4.
