The United States and Russia have expressed interest in joint technology research, including projects involving the planned Skolkovo innovations park outside Moscow.
The two countries on March 27 signed a memorandum of understanding at a meeting of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission's Innovation Working Group.
The meeting was in Silicon Valley, the California technology research area.
Oleg Fomichev, Moscow's deputy minister of economic development, told ITAR-TASS the sides discussed possible cooperation in specific technology sectors as well as the need to strengthen Russia's legal safeguards for intellectual property rights.
On March 29, Skolkovo announced that the number of companies set to pursue research at the planned center had reached 400.
Construction is due to be completed in 2015.
