Vienna, 25 February 2004 (RFE/RL) -- The United Nations' nuclear watchdog agency has accused Iran of failing to disclose some possibly weapons-related aspects of its nuclear program.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Muhammad el-Baradei said he hopes it will be the "last time" that Iran fails to fully declare to the agency details about its nuclear program.
In October, Iran provided the UN nuclear agency with documents that it said provided a full picture of Iran's nuclear program and proved that the country was not trying to secretly develop nuclear weapons.
But the IAEA said yesterday that its inspectors had found in Iran signs of polonium -- a radioactive element that can be used as a triggering device for nuclear explosions.
The agency said inspectors had also found designs for centrifuges capable of producing enriched uranium, which can be used in nuclear weapons.
Iran's program is due to be discussed at an 8 March meeting of the UN nuclear agency's board of directors.
