Macedonian President Appoints Prime Minister

14 May 2004 -- New Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski named former Interior Minister Hari Kostov as the country's new prime minister today.

Crvenkovski gave the new prime minister 20 days to form a government. Kostov is also a former top banker and the country's former representative to the World Bank.

He replaces Crvenkovski, who has twice served as premier before he was inaugurated as president on 12 May. Crvenkovski replaced Boris Trajkovski, who died in a plane crash in Bosnia-Herzegovina on 26 February.
