11 June 2004 -- President Vladimir Putin says Russia sees no reason to halt cooperation with Iran to build the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran.
Putin told reporters at the end of the Group of Eight (G-8) summit in the U.S. state of Georgia that Russia would halt cooperation only if Iran refuses to be transparent and cooperate with the United Nations' nuclear watchdog agency.
Leaders of the G-8 countries, including Putin, on 9 June accused Iran of inadequate cooperation with the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran rejected the G-8 statement, saying there is no proof Iran has done anything wrong.
Iran's nuclear program is expected to be discussed during the IAEA board of governors meeting opening on 14 June in Vienna.
