16 June 2004 -- A remote-controlled bomb hit a vehicle used by German peacekeepers in the northeastern city of Kunduz on 16 June, killing four civilians.
Kunduz police chief Mutalib Bek said the driver, two children, and an elderly man were killed. Another person was wounded in the blast.
The 250-strong German peacekeeping force in Kunduz said none of its soldiers was in the vehicle when the bomb exploded.
Kunduz is the only place outside Kabul where the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has a presence.
Today's attack came a week after 11 Chinese road workers were shot dead in their sleep south of Kunduz.
