9 July 2004 -- Russia's industry and energy minister, Viktor Khristenko, says the situation around troubled oil giant Yukos will not affect Russia's petroleum exports.
Khristenko's statement in Moscow came as court bailiffs removed computers from Yukos's registry company in Moscow and from company offices in Siberia.
Chief Bailiff Andrei Belyakov said he is trying to establish which Yukos assets can be seized to enforce a court decision to pay $3.4 billion in back taxes.
But Belyakov said his staff will do its best not to interrupt Yukos's operations.
Yukos says it does not have enough cash to pay the fine. Yukos's main shareholder, the jailed Mikhail Khodorkovskii, has offered his stake in the company to the government as debt payment.
