Russian Cabinet To Review Draft 2005 Budget

23 August 2004 -- The Russian cabinet is due today to review the state's draft budget for 2005.
The cabinet is expected to hear a report by Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin.

The budget must be sent to the State Duma by 26 August.

The budget draft foresees a 27.6 percent increase in Russian military spending, to more than 528 billion rubles ($18.07 billion).

The government has already given its general backing to a forecast by finance officials of 6.3 percent economic growth in 2005 if the price for Russian oil exports averages $28 per barrel.
