Iran Will Help Bring Iraqi Stability

30 August 2004 -- Iran's national security adviser, Hasan Rowhani, has assured visiting Iraqi officials that his country is committed to cooperating on establishing security in Iraq.
Reports today from Iran's state news agency, IRNA, say Rowhani told Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh yesterday that Iran is willing to help provide security in Iraq because the two countries' security interests are "tied to each other."

Rowhani said stability in Iraq is also key to regional security and that it was important to ensure the speedy withdrawal of "foreign forces" as soon as possible.

Saleh arrived in Tehran yesterday for meetings with Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi and Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari.
