14 September 2004 -- Britain, France, and Germany yesterday warned Iran that it may be brought before the UN Security Council unless Tehran resolves the dispute over its nuclear program.
French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said the three European countries are seeking a draft resolution on Iran from the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). But Barnier said a political solution is still possible without UN action.
The statement comes as the IAEA was meeting in Vienna. Agency head Muhammad el-Baradei said there is no deadline for ending a probe into Iran's nuclear program, even though Iran says it wants to see the investigation wrapped up in November.
Meanwhile, Iran's delegate to the meeting, Hossein Ousavian, said Iran plans to resume work on enriching uranium within months. It had suspended the activity in order to allay concerns that it was developing nuclear weapons.
