27 September 2004 -- Two U.S. soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division were killed in separate incidents yesterday north of the Iraqi capital.
The U.S. military said in a statement that one soldier died when his vehicle overturned near the town of Balad.
The second incident also happened near Balad, when a patrol returning from the scene of the accident came under small-arms fire, the military said.
