Egypt To Host Iraq Conference In Late November

10 October 2004 -- An international conference organized by Egypt on the electoral process in Iraq will open on 25 November.
The date of the conference was announced by Cairo today. The Iraqi government says it is on target to hold general elections in January.

Egyptian officials said the conference seeks to help the Iraqi people on political, economic, and security issues. They also said the gathering will try to promote unity between different Iraqi factions so all foreign forces could be pulled out from Iraq.

The conference is expected to be attended by Iraq's neighbors, the Group of Eight leading industrialized countries, the Arab League, and the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
