In the capital Baghdad, Australian troops came under attack in the center of the city when a car bomb exploded, killing three bystanders and injuring three soldiers.
In the west of the city, one U.S. soldier was killed and five injured when a roadside bomb exploded.
A tribal leader and two of his associates were killed when a car bomb exploded in the northern city of Mosul.
In the western city of Ramadi, at least three people were killed in clashes between rebels and U.S. troops.
A suicide car bomber attacked a U.S. convoy near the western town of Khaldiva damaging several vehicles. Details of possible casualties were not immediately available.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed a report today that 380 tons of explosives disappeared from an arms depot in Iraq that was not being controlled in the wake of the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
