30 October 2004 -- At least 16 people were injured when a powerful blast went off outside Al-Arabiya TV's offices in Baghdad today.
Al-Arabiya said around seven of its staffers were wounded, but police spokesman Sami al-Saadun, speaking on the Dubai-based station, said the explosion, caused by a car bomb, injured 16 passers-by.
Al-Arabiya said the explosion went off in front of a car park just across the channel's offices in the Iraqi capital. It is not clear if Al-Arabiya was targeted.
Al-Arabiya's offices are also used by staffers of the TV's sister television MBC, as well as staffers of the Saudi government's news channel Al-Ikhbariya.
