6 November 2004 -- An Iranian official says no compromise has yet been made in talks between Iran and the European Union on getting Tehran to suspend uranium-enrichment efforts.
Hassan Rowhani, a member of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and top nuclear negotiator, told Iranian state television that Tehran does not want to give up what he said were its enrichment rights.
The United States accuses Iran of pursuing uranium enrichment in order to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charge.
Officials from Britain, France, and Germany are holding a second day of talks with Iranian officials in Paris.
They are said to be deadlocked over the duration of a suspension, as well as the timing or scope of incentives that the EU could offer Iran.
