The assault on insurgents in Al-Fallujah entered its fourth day
11 November 2004 -- A car bomb near a police patrol in central Baghdad killed at least seven people today, as the U.S.-led assault continues on the city of Al-Fallujah.
One doctor, Ra'd Jabbar at Al-Kindi hospital, said at least 18 others were injured by the car bomb in a busy commercial area of Baghdad.
In the northern city of Kirkuk, a car bomb exploded today near a convoy carrying the provincial governor, Abd al-Rahman Mustafa, who was not hurt. At least 14 people were injured in the blast.
In Mosul, insurgents have set several police stations on fire and are roaming the streets with weapons stolen from the buildings.
The latest violence occurred as U.S. forces and Iraqi government troops, backed by artillery and warplanes, continued efforts to seize Al-Fallujah from insurgents. The U.S. military says it has taken control of about 70 percent of Al-Fallujah since the assault began Monday (8 November) night.
