8 December 2004 -- U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell today called on European powers to look beyond their differences with Washington over Iraq and improve their transatlantic ties.
Powell made his remarks before entering a meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels. He said that he is aware that some of U.S. President George W. Bush's decisions have been controversial in Europe, but that both sides should remobilize to face new global challenges, including promoting democracy.
