1 February 2005 -- Slobodan Milosevic's war crimes trial has been suspended because the former Yugoslav president is sick with the flu.
Presiding Judge Patrick Robinson said the doctor treating Milosevic will submit a report later today with an estimate of how long it will take Milosevic to recover.
Milosevic has had repeated health problems since the trial began three years ago. The UN tribunal at The Hague assigned two lawyers to defend Milosevic to prevent his health causing more delays.
In November 2004, Milosevic won back his right to lead his own defense. But if Milosevic is ill for an extended period of time, the court could ask the two lawyers to take over the defense in his absence.
