British Man Shot Dead In Kabul

8 March 2005 -- A gunman killed a British development worker last night in central Kabul.
A police commander in the capital, General Sher Agha, said the British man was alone inside his car in front of the main guest house for UN workers and the Dutch Embassy when he was ambushed.

Agha said two vehicles blocked the British man's pickup truck, and someone opened fire on him before the vehicles drove away.

The British Foreign Office said the victim, Steven Macqueen, was working for the Afghan Ministry of Rural Development on a project to boost private investment in the country.
