Serbia Accused Of Obstructing Former General's Arrest

8 March 2005 -- The chief prosecutor of the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Carla del Ponte, has accused Serbia of obstructing the arrest of former Bosnian Serb General Ratko Mladic.
She said the Serbian government knows exactly where Mladic is and could arrest him within hours if it wanted to. Mladic is accused of war crimes and genocide during the war in Bosnia in the early 1990s.

Del Ponte also criticized Croatia, saying Zagreb is not doing enough to track down fugitive former General Ante Gotovina.

Del Ponte's comments yesterday at The Hague came the same day that former Serbian General Momcilo Perisic turned himself in to the tribunal. He has been charged with war crimes during the war in Bosnia.
