Insurgents Attack Police In Baghdad

28 March 2005 -- Insurgents attacked Iraqi security forces in Baghdad today, gunning down a neighborhood police chief and hitting a patrol with a roadside bomb.
Gunmen killed Colonel Abdul Karim Fahid, a chief of a police station in Baghdad's Dura district. Insurgents also killed a policeman and a street cleaner detonating a roadside bomb in a southeastern neighborhood of the capital.

Meanwhile, the country's National Assembly is scheduled to meet tomorrow.

The parliament is due to choose its leadership, but there has been no confirmation that a deal has been reached between the Shi'ite-dominated United Iraqi Alliance and Kurdish political leaders.
