Serbian Police General Heads To War Crimes Court

4 April 2005 -- Former Serbian police General Sreten Lukic departed Belgrade today to surrender himself to the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague today.
The UN court has indicted Lukic and three other ex-Yugoslav police and army generals for crimes committed during the 1998-99 Kosovo war.

Lukic was the former police chief of Serbia's Kosovo province.

He is accused of planning and ordering the killings of Kosovar Albanian civilians in 1999 while Serbian soldiers battled ethnic Albanian separatist fighters.
