6 April 2005 -- The U.S. military says one of its helicopters crashed in southeast Afghanistan today, killing 16 people on board.
A military spokeswoman, Lieutenant Cindy Moore, said bad weather appeared to have caused the crash of the Chinook helicopter near Ghazni city, 125 kilometers southwest of the capital Kabul.
An Afghan police official said all those aboard the helicopter appeared to be American. The U.S. military said four American crewmembers were among those killed in the crash but would not give the nationalities of the passengers.
