15 April 2005 -- A Moscow court today found two people guilty of aiding terrorists who planted bombs on two Russian airplanes last year, and sentenced the two to 18 months in prison.
The court found Domodedyevo airport employees Nikolai Korenkov and Armen Arutyunian guilty of aiding and abetting terrorism for accepting bribes to allow presumed bombers -- two Chechen women -- to board the planes.
The two planes exploded in midair almost simultaneously, killing all 90 people on board the two aircraft.
The two airport employees did not receive stiffer penalties because they cooperated with investigators and also because one of the defendants has a young child and the other cares for his elderly parents.
