Iraq Attacks Kill At Least 17

7 June 2005 -- A series of attacks killed at least 17 people and wounded many others in Iraq today.
The trio of suicide car bombs and a roadside bomb exploded within minutes of each other in and around the town of Hawijah, some 200 kilometers north of Baghdad.

Iraqi soldiers, police and civilians were among the dead and injured.

In other violence, a car bomber in Baghdad apparently missed his target -- a police patrol. The blast wounded several civilians.

AP also reported that the corpse of a Sunni Muslim cleric was found shot dead today in the southern city of Al-Basrah.

And the U.S. military said that two U.S. soldiers were killed in roadside bomb attacks on 5-6 June near the town of Al-Fallujah.
