13 June 2005 (RFE/RL) -- An explosion destroyed cars and windows outside the Tajik Emergencies Ministry today in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe.
Interior Minister Khumdin Sharipov said there were no injuries. Sharipov described the blast as a possible "terrorist act," adding that a suspect has been detained.
There was an explosion outside the same ministry building at the start of February also. There was no claim of responsibility for that explosion.
Tajikistan passed through five years of civil war ending in 1997 with a UN-brokered power-sharing agreement between the country's warring pro-Moscow and Islamic forces.
