8 July 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Hundreds of Srebrenica survivors have begun a march through Bosnia ahead of the massacre's 10th anniversary commemorations next week.
The three-day, 70-kilometer march re-enacts survivors' escape from Bosnian Serb forces who slaughtered 8,000 Muslim men and boys there in 1995.
The marchers will eventually join an estimated 50,000 people who are expected to gather on 11 July at the Potocari memorial center outside Srebrenica.
During the ceremony, the remains of 600 victims will be buried alongside 1,300 already laid to rest there. Their bodies were found in mass graves around Srebrenica.
In Vienna, the OSCE's Chairman-in-Office, Dimitrij Rupel, paid tribute to the victims of the massacre, saying it remains a "painful reminder" for the entire world.
