29 July 2005 -- Police in Iraq say a suicide bomber killed 25 people today in Rabiah, near the northern city of Mosul. Another 35 people were injured.
Iraqi police General Said al-Juburi said all of the victims were young men lining up to join the army outside a recruitment center.
The Al-Qaeda group in Iraq later claimed responsibility for the bombing in a message posted to an Islamist website. The claim's authenticity could not be verified.
Mosul and areas to its west, as well as police and army recruits, have been frequently targeted by insurgents over the past year.
