10 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- The UN atomic agency has cancelled a planned formal meeting today on Iran's nuclear program.
IAEA spokesman Peter Rickwood said today's board of governors session was cancelled to allow diplomats more time for discussions ahead of a formal meeting.
The IAEA board of governors is expected to meet on 11 August.
The IAEA on 9 August held an emergency session over Iran's resumption of some activities at the nuclear facility of Isfahan but did not agree on a resolution.
The uranium conversion activities at Isfahan are part of the process of uranium enrichment which the West fears Iran could use to produce nuclear weapons.
Iran insists all its nuclear activities are peaceful.
Iran rejected an EU offer of trade and technology incentives in exchange for Tehran abandoning all uranium enrichment activities.
Mohammad Saeedi, the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation said today the IAEA has given Iran permission to remove seals at the Isfahan plant to resume full activities there.
