11 August 2205 -- At least 43 people are dead and 15 missing following floods that hit Iran's northeastern Golestan Province, the student agency ISNA reported today.
The floods, caused by torrential rain in the previous 48 hours, affected more than 70 villages near the provincial city of Kalaleh and made at least 350 families homeless.
The flood-hit families are being temporarily accommodated in tents and are expected to be transferred to safe areas later.
The floods were carrying away cattle, refrigerators, combine harvesters, and tractors -- and washed away roads, buildings, and ruined entire farms.
The same area was hit last month by a similar flood which left 16 dead in Kalaleh.
