30 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Kyrgyzstan's parliament is expected today to either approve or reject President Kurmanbek Bakiev's nominees for several top governmental posts -- including foreign minister.
On 27 September, parliament rejected six of 16 candidates Bakiev had selected.
Among those rejected was Roza Otunbaeva, who had been serving as acting foreign minister in the government that took over in late March. She was one of the leaders of the Tulip Revolution that ousted President Askar Akaev.
Bakiev's new nominee for that post is Alibek Jekshenkulov.
