Iran's Isfahan nuclear facility
2 October 2005 -- The speaker of the Iranian parliament today warned Israel against attempting to attack its nuclear facilities.
Gholam Ali Hadad-Adel said Iran would teach Israel "a lesson it will never forget" if it tries to attack Iranian facilities.
Israel bombed Iraq's Osiraq nuclear reactor in 1981, over fears Baghdad aimed to develop nuclear weapons. Since Saddam Hussein's ouster in 2003, Israel has viewed Iran as its prime enemy in the region.
Israel is believed to be the only country in the Mideast with nuclear weapons. It neither confirms nor denies the claim.
Also today, the office of Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied a newspaper article citing the president as saying Iran with withold oil sales if it is referred to the UN Security Council over its nuclear program.
The International Atomic Energy Agency last week adopted a resolution that finds Iran in "noncompliance" with nuclear
proliferation safeguards.
