12 October 2005 -- Iraq's parliament is meeting today to consider changes to the country's draft constitution which is to be put to a vote in a referendum on 15 October.
A statement from the office of the speaker of parliament said the session today will consider the results of negotiations on the document yesterday between Sunnis, Shi'a, and Kurds.
A major Sunni Arab political group, the Iraqi Islamic Party, earlier said negotiators yesterday reached a deal that would allow the renegotiation of certain elements of the constitution after the 15 referendum.
Other Sunni parties, however, said they remained opposed to the document.
Suicide Attack
Meanwhile, at least six people were wounded in a suicide bomb attack on an Iraqi minister's convoy in Baghdad today. Minister of State for Governorate Affairs Sa'd Nayif Mujhim al-Hardan was reportedly not in the convoy at the time of the attack.
