10 November 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Tajikistan's Justice Ministry registered a new political party yesterday, the Economic Reform Party.
The head of the party is Olimjon Boboev, who is also the rector of Tajikistan's Institute for Transportation. He has said the party has many economists and specialists in various economic sectors among its ranks, and he told RFE/RL that his party's aims are to reduce poverty, conduct proper privatizations, and attract foreign investment.
Meanwhile, Sumangul Taghoeva, a departmental official in charge of registering political parties within the Justice Ministry, said that the ministry is considering the application of another party, the Agrarian Party.
