4 December 2005 -- New attacks in Afghanistan today killed an newly elected Afghan parliamentarian, a suicide bomber, and four others.
Esmatullah Muhabat won a lower-house seat for eastern Laghman Province in the 18 September national legislative elections. He and three other people were killed after fighting broke out with a businessman in Laghman.
In an another incident, a suicide bomber detonated explosives today on a street in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, killing himself and a civilian and wounding two passersby.
The bombing took place after a U.S. military convoy had passed by.
Kandahar deputy police chief Abdul Hungar said it was possible the bomber was targeting the convoy.
