Nine Taliban Reported Killed In Afghanistan

(RFE/RL) 7 December 2005 -- The governor of Afghanistan's Oruzgan Province, Jan Mohammad Khan, says nine Taliban fighters were killed and another six captured in a joint operation by U.S. and Afghan government forces.

Khan told the news agency Reuters that the operation, which was conducted on 6 December in the province’s Charcheno district, had found a large cache of arms. A Taliban spokesman, Qari Mohammad Yousuf, confirmed the death of only one Taliban fighter.
