11 December 2005 -- Rudnik Dudaev, the head of the Chechen Security Council, was killed today when a fire broke out in his residence on the grounds of the Grozny complex of Chechnya's pro-Moscow government.
Chechen Deputy Interior Minister Akhmad Dakaev ruled out the possibility of arson, saying the blaze was the result of faulty electrical wiring.
He said Dudaev was asleep at the time the fire broke out and died almost immediately of smoke inhalation.
