The court heard testimony from a witness about events in the village of Al-Dujayl in 1982 when some 148 Shi'ites were executed in the wake of an assassination attempt on Hussein.
Hussein questioned the testimony of someone who was a minor at the time. He also accused the White House of lying after they rejected charges he had been abused while in U.S. custody.
"The White House lies. They lied again and they are liars. They are the world's number one liars and they are known for it because they said Iraq had chemical weapons and had a connection with terrorism and then no one said they found any such thing in Iraq."
Hussein's half-brother, Barzan al-Tikriti, threatened to boycott the trial if prosecutors continued to "censor" video footage of the trial. The court then went into closed session.
